Haiti Two technology companies have launched competing to sell tablets with the Android system companies.
Surtab executives said they have already sold a lot of tablets at the University of Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, an executive Handxom said the company has sold 300 units in the last two weeks and will open a showroom in January.
Both companies buy parts in China and assembled in Haiti.
Such businesses are unusual in a country with little recent experience in electronics manufacturing. Most assemblers have been limited to sewing shirts, which are exported to North America.
